Tech Wrestlers Hope for Historic Season

This year’s Bradley Tech wrestling team may be the strongest in the school’s history. Just how good can Tech be? The team has 13 returning varsity athletes and a couple of freshman phenoms.

Included in this group are four returning state qualifiers: Travis Smith (135); Rodney Daniels (145); Vernon Rash (160); and John Jude (285).

Clearly this is the deepest and most talented team Tech has had in a long time. However, several injuries to key team members and strong competition must be overcome to realize team and individual goals.

When asked how he felt about the upcoming season head coach Craig Bevilacqua said, “We have a chance to see individuals win state titles and the team as a whole has the ability to make it to the team state championships. But the guys need to dedicate themselves and work really hard to make that happen."

Senior standout Vernon Rash seconds his coach’s hopes and concerns, “Everybody just needs to take care of their business, work hard every day, and focus on getting better.”

The coaching staff hopes that our wrestlers will live up to their potential and make the Tech family proud. Please do what you can to support our wrestlers as they begin their journey and come check out this year’s first tournament here at Tech on Saturday, December 3. Wrestling begins at 10:00 am.
